The macro-eyes Marketing and Communications Manager will design the loudspeaker to advance the frontiers of science for social impact and remove barriers to bring macro-eyes essential technologies to underserved communities around the world. You will work closely with the executive team at macro-eyes and collaborate with external partners that include governments and some of the most influential organizations in the world.  The Marketing and Communications Manager will functionally report to the Chief Business Officer and have the full support of the macro-eyes leadership team and the most important innovation of our time as your subject.

This role is a blend of design and execution – vision and operations. In collaboration with organizational leadership, the Marketing and Communications Manager will simplify complex messaging, making it accessible to those with little exposure to artificial intelligence [AI]. Success will be measured by your ability to translate complex ideas into clear and concise messaging for appropriate audiences. macro-eyes works with foundations, corporations, governments in the developed and developing world and NGOs: different audiences that may require different messaging. The biggest hurdle to deploying AI is building trust – trust is born through transparency and understanding.

Responsibilities:

Developing effective corporate communication strategies. Build a consistent strategy for a series of platforms and external messaging systems to share our impact, our vision, and our learnings. You will work with leadership to design these platforms and then develop and distribute appropriate content.

Media strategies and content. macro-eyes is leading the field in bringing AI to global health. Our work is consistently unprecedented and presents the opportunity to make a save lives and preserve resources around the world. Our message needs to be heard. Developing opportunities for media engagement, conference panels as experts, and publications along with core messaging being distributed by appropriate social media platforms is essential.

Program communications. Each project has internal and external communications needs. You will help to define what platforms are used externally and deliver messaging on those platforms to make appropriate insights available to the public. These programs will also have internal and stakeholder communication requirement. You will work closely with the Program Managers to build and distribute project specific communications.  

Communications in the broadest sense. We believe that effective marketing and communication can be visual and should engage the emotions of the audience. You will work with the leadership team to identify when our messaging should or could be visual and identify the right talent to design the visual marketing or branding.

Workforce. Catalyze efforts to grow the communications team. Identify internal needs for team growth, participate in the design and hire of communication team members and consultants.

This position requires the ability to travel internationally up to 25% of the time, with continuous periods of up to two weeks possible.

Experience/Abilities:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations

  • Designing marketing and communications strategy in the development, health, and international sectors.

  • Capable leader who has worked extensively in multi-national, multi-cultural environments bringing diverse groups together to achieve a common purpose with patience, grace and humility in low and middle income countries.

  • Demonstrated ability to compel different types of people in different contexts to undertake something new.

  • Excellent English oral, written, and presentation skills.

  • Advanced document creation, collaboration and management skills including the use of Microsoft Office.

  • Understanding of the global development context.
