Data Analyst
Build data pipelines and visualize complex data

Macro-Eyes is recruiting a Data Analyst to build data pipelines and visualize complex data. You will structure data sets and implement data pipelines from start to finish. Your work will be the foundation for state of the art machine learning. Here's the context: We are often called upon to deploy Macro-Eyes technology in extremely challenging environments where uncertainty is the constant and data is sparse and inconsistent, spread across multiple, different sources. This is not conventional data preparation.

You will be instrumental in bringing new tools and new methodologies to the foundational elements of machine learning and the creation of truly data-driven systems. Your work will accelerate the deployment of machine learning for crucial systems. What you build will allow decision makers to more effectively allocate resources, saving lives and extending the impact of scarce resources.

The Data Analyst will report to the Director of Machine Learning Operations and collaborate with designers, software engineers and machine learning scientists.

The Macro-Eyes team is spread across Africa, Europe, and North America. We believe in recruiting the best talent in the world, regardless of location. This role will be fully remote with the freedom to choose how and when to work. Our remote team was executing at the highest level before COVID-19, and we expect to continue to be a fully remote, high-performing team. You will have access to your choice of hardware and a travel budget to interact with the distributed team in person.

  1. Gather data: Mine data from primary and secondary sources, reorganizing data in a format that can be easily read by either human or machine.
  2. Clean data: identify, evaluate and implement external services and tools to support data validation and cleansing. Set up and maintain automated data processes.
  3. Model and Interpret data: Use statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying particular attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for Machine Learning and analytics efforts.
  4. Present: Communicating the results of your findings will be a key part of your job. Create data dashboards, graphs and visualizations.
  5. Grow into a Data Engineer.
  • 1 to 2 years in similar role.
  • Health industry experience.
  • 3-year diploma or higher in the related field of study

We’re excited if you also have these capabilities:

  • Web scraping tools.
  • Docker.
  • Cloud platforms.
  • Experience with Agile.

What we ask of you:

  • Take a task and run with it - there’s very little hierarchy.
  • Speak up. We all learn every day. Ask for help, say when you need something.
  • Be forthcoming and accountable. About time, scope, questions, needs, options, deliverables.
  • Be nice to work with. Nothing extraordinary was ever achieved alone.
  • Exercise a product frame of mind: persistent drive to design and build structures that are repeatable and scalable.
  • Demo, Deploy, Repeat. Think about how to show, rather than tell, what you’re building. Engage with real systems and real world data as soon as possible to validate and learn.

What you need to bring:

  • Comfortable working with small groups in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams.
  • Energy, boundless curiosity, open-mindedness.
  • Willingness to learn and grow.
  • Respect for audiences and users. Willingness to step into someone else’s shoes (and the imagination to do so).

Why you want to work with us:

  • Real-world impact and state-of-the-art science. We develop technology and products that save lives and help organizations do more with fewer resources. We break new ground in AI by creating systems that learn from sparse, complex data in some of the most challenging environments on earth.
  • We are growing rapidly and engaged in many of the most important issues of our time. Being part of MACRO-EYES is rich in opportunity.
  • Competitive compensation and generous benefits.
  • Work with an amazing group of people.
  • Work from almost anywhere. This role will be remote with the freedom to choose how and when to work. Our remote team was executing at the highest level before COVID-19, and we expect to continue to be a largely remote, high-performing team. In continuation of defying the trend, we will open our first physical offices in 2022. You will have access to your choice of hardware and a travel budget to interact with the distributed team in person.
