Communications Manager

Macro-Eyes is recruiting a Communications Manager (US-Based) dedicated to producing high-quality and deeply engaging content for Macro-Eyes internal and external audiences. You will work directly with the Macro-Eyes Communications team comprising a Director, Africa-based Communications Manager, Coordinator, and two Designers, as well as a talented team of cross-functional engineers, machine learning scientists, and subject area specialists across the organization. You will also regularly interface with external partners and clients around the world and have the opportunity to attend and present at global events across sectors like Global Development, Healthcare, Global Digital Development, eCommerce, and Climate.

We are deploying some of the most advanced technology on the planet and you will have the strategic and creative flexibility to create compelling content that describes the new and advancing field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

The Macro-Eyes team is spread across Africa, Europe, and North America. We believe in recruiting the best talent in the world, regardless of location. This role will be fully remote with the freedom to choose how and when to work. Our remote team was executing at the highest level before COVID-19, and we expect to continue to be a fully remote, high-performing team. You will have access to your choice of hardware and a travel budget to interact with the distributed team in person.

  • Collateral: Generate high-quality, deeply engaging digital and print content (briefs, video, decks, social media content, web articles) that accurately conveys the Macro-Eyes vision, product, software deployments, and achievements. Follow a structured process to ideate, create, and review content, and work with the internal design team to create visually compelling pieces that are on-brand. Work with the Communications team to socialize content and reach broad audiences. Keep content updated and relevant.
    Collateral development will support multiple Macro-Eyes company and communications objectives, including internal communications, recruiting and retention, business development, global health engagement, AI/ML research and awareness, and diversity and inclusion.

  • Blogs, Web Articles, and Thought Pieces: Oversee the creation, revision, and publication of blogs and thought pieces on behalf of the organization. This will involve working with members of all internal teams at Macro-Eyes, including leadership and technical teams, and will also include the freedom to propose, write, and publish content of your own.

  • Social Media: Support the execution of Macro-Eyes social media strategy, including content development and review, campaign planning, engaging with external partners, and evaluation and improvement.

  • Website Management: Develop and manage copy and content for the Macro-Eyes website, keeping the site updated and relevant.

  • Processes: We are a growing company and in need of formalizing and documenting how we do recurring tasks. This role will support the creation and execution of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for communications at Macro-Eyes.

  • Administration: Everyone on our team, from Directors to Coordinators, helps with administrative tasks like scheduling, emailing, and organizing. Be prepared to be a team player and proactively work toward the success of our team and company.

  • 5-8 years’ of related experience in communications roles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and awesome people skills.
  • Highly organized including experience working on dynamic cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Figma, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Asana, and Dropbox, some combination of these, or tools like these.
  • Comfortable working as part of a small team in a fast-paced, collaborative but unstructured environment.
  • Preferred previous experience working in journalism, creative writing, copy editing, or other roles that required strong writing and editing skills.
  • Hustle, passion, and an ability to adapt and grow.

  • Experience working with teams using Agile development processes.
  • Experience with international donor-funded projects.
